TECHNOLOGY SPROUTING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

When e-commerce websites came into inception, first thought inside minds of local business-owners was how this internet menace will rip them off of their roots in market. Moreover, the initial impact of e-commerce was exactly same as expected. With rise of further technology like smart phones and 3G proved to be a boon not only for just monopolizing big business owners but also for local business and those who adopted new technology, their productivity and turnover touched new heights.

Business has travelled a long way from use of instant messaging for pick up and drops of laundry along with local cabs migrating to using their own apps hence cutting the man in the middle. From local grocery stores taking orders via their own apps to local wholesale stores going online has increase their user base. New technology has surely helped the rich and the local business owners in a common way but this realization came about late because earlier local business owners were reluctant to migrate to online medium earlier.

Realizing that a website selling grocery items or an app providing cab services even at inflated prices has more reach to users due to internet revolution was major motivation behind local resellers going online. Thus, technology has greatly increased sales, competition and has created a win win situation for both users and resellers.

Further when we come to a more diversified line of technology we can think of technological advancements as opportunities for innovation even at atomic levels. For an instance, revolution in technology of front cameras of cellphones lead to innovation of selfie sticks which created a humongous business empire. Similarly, a slight displacement of camera bump or volume rocker in a cell phone creates scope for manufacturing new back covers hence increasing demand and helping business. Technology has surely made business easier and better than ever.

Get Ready to Build IoT Apps with the Launch IBM’s Open Source Development Tool ‘Quarks’

IBM has recently come out with their very own open source development tool called Quarks. The development tool is supposed to help manufacturers and programmers build efficient Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Quarks has been designed by IBM to let programmers develop applications based on IoT sensor data from connected devices. The open source development tool has its roots in IBM Streams, which is an enterprise tool used for processing large amounts of live data. But as per IBM, Quarks has been redesigned from the ground up and lets programmers develop applications on top of connected devices. What that means is that Quarks can help capture live data from live devices.

IBM’s recent interest in machine intelligence and cognitive learning certainly suggests that Quarks would be soon plugged into and used in Watson Health.

Quarks would certainly give the ability to develop applications that live stream data like a wearable device which could track the health status of a diabetic or a mine worker wearing a helmet with sensors. The development tool would help not only monitor data, but will also help people monitor and access it in real time and relay that information to people who might need it immediately.

Only time will tell whether Quarks will be a success or not. But IBM has to be applauded for working on Internet of Things solutions.

You might want to start with optimizing your website for mobile, because Google has recently come out with their Mobilegeddon update which will favor mobile friendly websites.

Voice Search FTW

Siri, Cortana, and Now are starting to become popular with mobile phone users. These voice search tools will soon become a part of the everyday life of users as Apple, Microsoft, and Google are working on ironing out the minor chinks that remain. Now since most people use long tail keywords when doing a voice search, it is time to start including these in order to increase your visibility.

Don’t Forget Local SEO

Google recently launched My Business wherein people can place their business on Google for free. This places the business right within the reach of customers when they perform a search, on Maps, and Google+. The search giant has also performed a number of changes in the way local results are shown and having your business placed on My Business will give you an edge compared to the competition.

Apps, Apps, and more Apps

With an ever increasing number of people using smart phones, it’s no surprise that the maximum time spent online by these users was on apps. Since apps also provide users with better functionality and navigation compared to mobile websites, it’s high time to optimize your app to increase its visibility on the app store by using in-app analytics.
With so many new upgrades and features coming out, 2016 is going to be the year when social media and search engine marketing will deviate from the past strategies and venture out into the new.

Using Social Media to Enhance the Outlook of your Business and Projections:

Are you the owner of an enterprising business and confused about your options of expansion? Don’t worry, because this perplexity puts you in the league of a million people striving hard to make their first of many millions. While you take your budget and costs towards expensive campaigns and market research programs, spare a thought for the ones who are benefitting from your business, and the ones who could.
During expansion, it is not enough to look for areas where you can expand, but also avenues that can be turned into fortes of expansion. This is where you create the need of your product. Got a small Learning Management System? Put your urban vision behind and look for rural areas and economies willing to invest their human resources in your products, and hence, you embark on an upward journey of expansion.
However, the problem arises when these trends are discreet. Therefore, there is a need to move to the pool of human information to understand trends and advancements that might well be the principles for your expanding business. To start with, employ a team of social media analysts who can detect the direction of the online wind. While this might leave room for multiple channels of communication and thought process, it does raise an important question, and that is of what the civilization needs. Avenues of expansion are plenty, but there is a need for an approach that enhances the outlook of your business. Risk taking, calculative investments, and keeping up with the current chain of thought are going to help you project your profits and business better. Therefore, even if you miss out on sharing whatever is on your mind, don’t dare miss out the elements that are on someone else’s mind.

The Tragic Tale of Paid Advertising on Facebook and its Consequences:

A couple of years back, Facebook ventured into the domain of paid advertising. Clearly, this was a move to promote the idea of profit generation through Facebook. What had once been the medium for creative and inquisitive minds now became a thriving alley for the ones who could swipe their Credit Cards on a regular basis.
Undoubtedly, we all are fond of Facebook likes, and entrepreneurs, we want our business to thrive online, which on Facebook, is reflected through the number of likes. While this may not be conclusive in nature, it does offer enough potential for businesses to expand and reach out to new customers. The curiosity inside us pertaining to the likes on Facebook was what the social media giant capitalized upon, thus building an advertising portal that managed to fool countless people across the globe.
If we do a digital throwback relevant to websites, we shall discover that history has been kind to the innovations that have been unique and user friendly. To witness the implications of the hysteria of paid advertising, go online and visit a few news portals, and calculate the ratio between the active followers on their page against the total subscribers, and you shall find acquaintance with the tragic tale of Facebook Likes.

Implementing SEO in a World without SEO; Getting your Business on Top

The World Wide Web is booming, and it was about time Google became clear with its policies relevant to Search Engine Optimization. Let’s sit back, and for a moment, ignore all those lengthy protocols and algorithms, and talk about getting your business on the first page of Google. Now, imagining there are no protocols and algorithms to help you in your distressing situation, you may look towards alternate routes to get your startup venture on the first page. So, where do we exactly start?
Firstly, get your website in order. Nope, it’s not 1999 anymore, and no one likes static websites with only content and ads that resemble the days of Jurassic Park. As an analyst, I have come across several sites that deal with taxation, revenue, govt. policies, and much more. Even with all the important information, these sites lack on an engaging interface, thus missing out on the chance to create sustained traffic. Therefore, your first priority should be the interface.
Secondly, get your website structure sorted. Dealing in ecommerce? Make sure to take a clue or two from the mother-ship, Amazon. Anyone visiting your site in the initial stages of your business should be hooked to the idea, to the potential of your idea, and to what you have to offer in the near future. Categorization, proper linking, and an impeccable content are necessary to give an engaging and impressive look to your website. So, concentrate your resources there!
Last, but not the least (ignore the cliché) is getting your content in order. Sometime in the future (we are still assuming that the algorithms have not been invented) there would be the rise of keyboards. So, if you are selling mobile phones, jewelry, or a nuclear bomb, make sure you make yourselves heard through your content. Now, don’t be careless to assume that only amateurs would be visiting your site. Content written in a structured, grammatically impeccable, and influencing manner often garners the attention and curiosity of the user. So, make sure your pen is mightier than the sword.
Coming back to the present, with your three-step SEO Strategy implemented along with Google’s invention of SEO. Fortunately, you did all things right, and the god of search engines, Google, would be able to get your business where it rightfully deserves to be, but don’t take those algorithms and keyword density ratios for granted because like God, even Google can help those who first help themselves.

Twitter Tweaks its Tweeting Tradition to Tackle Turning Tables and Traffic:

Twitter is all set to shock its audience of millions worldwide as it plans to roll out a feature that would enable users to extend the length of their tweets from the existing 140 characters. While this shakes the foundation on which Twitter marketed itself for almost a decade, developers are expecting to usher in a new era of tweeting with this upgrade.
So, the first question certainly wishes to reason with this curious move. It doesn’t come as a surprise now when reports from various social media analysts depict the falling traffic of this networking portal. Certainly, a lull has been witnessed in the networking arena for all websites, and that has led to ventures innovating with new ideas, topping the chart with ads.
Twitter, as users have known it for years, comes across as a portal where people are shackled by word count, but not by wit or freedom. The cheeky ones have already made enough merry out of this mayhem, while celebrities enjoyed a greater degree of privacy, teasing their fans on multiple occasions.
What could this move spell for Twitter? Some might argue for a more relaxed form of communication, but hey! Don’t we have Facebook for that already? Instagram (a part of Facebook now) already hosts an array of images. One cannot help but think about the desperation that’s driving Twitter to a point where it ends up killing its own USP.
For the ones who are veteran Twitter users, this upgrade won’t be a happy one. The experiment with 140 characters yielded unforeseen benefits for the website, ranging from Tweet marathons to celeb Q/As. As we approach a new era of social media where privacy ranks higher than interface, we wish for Twitter to innovate within 140 characters only, because that’s what Twitter is all about!

The Big Question: Apple is on its way to become Microsoft, but can Microsoft ever become Apple?

Before you lose yourself in the title, let me inform you that Microsoft has launched an extensive range of toys, leaving most of us surprised. Microsoft isn’t really NSA when it comes to keeping secrets (Snowden would think otherwise though), and yet, they manage to grab a few eyeballs here and there after their annual event. So, let’s get down to the specifics; Microsoft opened us up to a new Surface Pro Tablet (Alright, calm down iPad Pro), a couple of Lumia phones (Quiet! Nexus), and another Microsoft Band fitness (Yep, they still produce these). However, Microsoft went a notch further in challenging Apple’s idea for a smart keyboard with a tiny convertible laptop dubbed as the Surface Book.
However, let’s talk about Microsoft’s numbers. Today, close to 110 million devices are running on Windows 10, more than a century of game play streamed in terms of years, a billion questions for ‘Cortana’, 1.25 Billion downloads from the Microsoft App Store, and an enthralling 400% increase in developer revenue since the new version of Windows was rolled out. For the sake of not being too mathematical, let’s just ignore the fact that there are 8 million PCs that are already using Windows 10.
Make no mistake, these numbers do not mean much in the World market. For a consumer, this is nothing but a long string of numbers that do not support his momentum in Temple Run or Subway Surfers. Microsoft, with all its surprises can attain a respectable position in the world market, yes, but can it rival its biggest competitor when it comes to mobiles and tablets? Will the world ever be crazy for Surface Pro as they are for iPad Pro, even with the latter being an overpriced digital commodity? Apple, with its desktops and the recently launched iPad Pro, took the fight to Microsoft. A sweet session of browsing and game playing on iPad Air can convince anyone to dump their desktops so deep that they never have to worry about them again. Apple is well on its way to become Microsoft, but can Microsoft ever be Apple?
For the ones who managed to escape the complexity of this title, here are few things to ponder upon? What drives Apple today, or what drove Microsoft yesterday, to the pinnacles of success and an expansion rate that defied every business model there ever was?
The past, the present, and the future, are written by the ones who dare to innovate. Apple has been successfully doing that. Even with little roadblocks, it has managed to retain the attention concentrated upon the brand worldwide. Microsoft has some hope with the new version of Windows doing well, but it’s not the engine of the car that is failing them, it’s the car itself. Apple, well you guys have managed to design a pretty good car, just keep that engine running. Apple is what Microsoft meant to us in the 90s, and the eye raising question is, who will own the next decade of technology worldwide?
